Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors
Body-focused repetitive behaviors or BFRB's for short, are repetitive behaviors such as hair-pulling, skin picking, nailbiting, and can affect up to 5% of the population. Commonly mistaken for "bad habits", BFRB's can be stressful and shame-inducing, as they can cause people to touch their bodies in a way that can cause extensive damage. There is hope and help for BFRBs, and Habit Reversal Training (HRT) is an evidence-based therapy that can help with recovery.
